Geist is a visual manifestation of a million thoughts on the verge of petrification. A mental shard. A rendered artefact of an indefinitely continuing battle between burning out and fading away.
The overwhelming complexity of 100.000 polygons in combination with procedural displacement mimicking pearlescent calcium carbonate directly correlate with the often futile process of overthinking.
Ultimately Geist is the metaphorical beacon leading to the final conclusion – there is beauty in breakdown.
“Geist” is part of the digital art NFT exhibition called ‚Spotlight‘ hosted by 1stdibs. It has been showcased alongside other artists curated by Ryan Hawthorne. The physical exhibition was open to the public in June 2022 at 368 Studio on Broadway in New York City.

“A decentralized approach to curation, “SPOTLIGHT” allows artists to share the stage with their peers. As lead curator, I reached out to eight of my favorite NFT creators — Dave Krugman, J.N. Silva, OSF, Julia Taft, Josh Pierce, Oveck, GMUNK and REO — to join me in a simple task: Each of us was to put a “spotlight” on a fellow artist we admire in an effort to share opportunity and awareness throughout various networks.
“Spotlight” focuses on the core of the NFT space: the people. Every work of art is about not just the imagery but also the human behind the token.”
